I’ve Switched To PC For Filmmaking

Giantkiller Studios- Switched to PC

So today is the day that I've decided to switch to a PC build as my main editing workstation for filming and content creation. My timing couldn't be more perfect....(in fact it’s the worst time to buy parts).

It’s been about 12 years since I last built a PC and I definitely don’t consider myself as an expert by any means, so this should be pretty interesting. I have no idea how this build is going to turn out so he's me hoping it wont turn out like a pice of crap. Full disclaimer here folks, this is not a how to video, there are plenty of tutorials online. This is just a fun little project for me.

Building My New PC

Being a Mac user for so long I've never had the luxury of going all out on RGB...All I can say is I hope you guys can forgive me for all the unicorn spew that is about transpire. I've probably picked the worse time to build a PC as I couldn't find all the parts I wanted online and trying to buy a decent graphics card is about as rare as rocking horse poo at the moment.

After a few hours looking on forums and group pages I managed to find a decent local store to help me grab some of those elusive parts i've been trying so hard to find. Big shout out to EZ computers for sorting me out with the GPU.

Most worrying part of this build was making sure I had everything connected correctly on the motherboard via the PSU. I've heard horror stories where people have bricked their builds before they even get the chance to install any software.

The graphics card was an absolute beast! So big in fact that I had the reposition the CPU cooler to compensate. Relax guys... the pump is still below the pipes on the heatsink so I'm hoping to avoid water flow issues. Not ideal but these things happen I guess.

This Beast of an editing rig should keep me going for awhile. Plus I now have the options to upgrade.
